Dear Friends:

The Olympic Team of the Republic of Armenia will make its first appearance representing an independent nation at the summer games in Atlanta, Georgia. The team will be composed of approximately 30 athletes and 15 coaches and trainers in nine Olympic sports. Team Armenia has world class athletes in several sports such as weight lifting, wrestling and sharp shooting, and is expected to perform at the highest level in Atlanta.

The Armenian Olympic Team will require financial support in order to successfully participate in the Olympic games. Circumstances in Armenia did not allow a full funding of the team, and therefore, at the request of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia, concerned Armenian Americans have volunteered to raise the required funds. Team Armenia, Inc., has been registered in the State of Georgia as a nonprofit organization to coordinate fund-raising efforts.

Flora and George Dunaians have been appointed to the National Board of Team Armenia., and have been asked to Co-Chair as the West Coast directors for fund-raising activities on behalf of Team Armenia, Inc. During the past, our Armenian athletes have been supported through various Armenian organization, sponsored tournaments and just recently, hosted a successful fund-raiser for the Armenian Davis Cup Team, and now, comes our biggest challenge, the Olympics.

All funds raised will go to the Armenian Olympic Team to pay for the cost of transportation, housing and pre-games activities. The volunteers affiliated with Team Armenia, Inc., will not receive salaries or any other compensation for their time or efforts.

It is not often that our best athletes are showcased in a place where the entire world will be watching. Let us enable the Armenian flag to fly proudly at the summer Olympic games in Atlanta.
