lost a close match to Sweden's Thomas Enqvist,
ranked 3rd in the tournament, in the second round
of the Tennis Tournament. The final result was
4-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 in favor of Enqvist.

- Armenia wins
its first gold! Armen Nazaryan won gold in
the 52kg division of Greco Roman Wrestling.
"I want to
dedicate this medal to my country, because it is
the first time my nation has won gold,"
Nazaryan said.

NCAA Div.1 Singles Champion in 1995,
defeated Daniel Nestor of Canada
6-4, 6-4 in the First Round of the Tennis
Tournament.

Results: Lernik Papyan decisioned Kazumasa
Tsujimoto of Japan, 10-5 in the flyweight
division.

Mkhitar Manukyan defeated
Usama Aziz of Sweden in the 62kg division.
Tsolak Yeghishyan lost to Aleksander Sidorenko of
Belarus.

NCAA Div.1Champ, will be competing in Round
1 of the tennis tournament.

- Olympic Wrestling Results:
Levon Geghamyan defeated Aleksander Jovancevic of
Yugoslavia in Round 4 of the 82kg division, but
lost in Round 5 to Daulet Turilykhanov of
Kazakhstan.
Hamza Yerlikaya of Turkey won the gold in that
division.

- Olympic Boxing results:
Nashan Munchyan got a bye in the light flyweight
division.
Mikhak Ghazaryan got a bye in the lightweight
division.
- Olympic Wrestling results:
Aghasi Manukyan defeated Nabil Salhi of Tunisia
in the 57kg division.
Samuel Manukyan lost to Yalcin Karapinar of
Turkey in the 68kg division.
Martin Lidberg of Sweden defeated Levon Geghamyan
in the 82kg division.

- Armenia will be sending 32
athletes to the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
This is the first time that Armenia will be
participating as a complete team.
- If you send a message or a
question to Team Armenia, the players and coaches
themselves will be glad to respond back to you
from Atlanta.
- On Tuesday, July 16, Team Armenia
will attend a banquet at Saint Ann's Episcopal
Church at 5:30 PM set up by the Armenian
residents of Atlanta in honor of the Armenian
Olympic Team.
- The Team will be moving into the
Olympic Village as of Thursday July 18.
- Over 80 people are going as part
of the team, including the players, coaches and
delegates from Armenia.
- Over 400 Armenian residents will
be flying to Atlanta to watch Team Armenia bring
home the gold!
